Actuarial Recruitment

The right actuary turns uncertainty into decisions.

The right actuarial hire gives leadership a clear line from product to capital. With experienced actuaries in place, pricing keeps pace with new products, reporting cycles run with confidence and capital conversations start from numbers the board can rely on. That is growth your leadership team can plan around.

We specialise in actuarial recruitment across Singapore, covering general insurance, health, life, investment, pensions and reinsurance actuaries, alongside product development, valuation and pricing specialists who bring sound judgement to the decisions behind your products, reporting and capital.

Actuarial recruitment for you

Our consultants each specialise in one area of the insurance market rather than working as generalists. In actuarial, that means keeping our market knowledge current every day. We track how modelling platforms such as Prophet and RAFM are reshaping teams, how new roles like actuarial modeller and actuarial data scientist are defined, and how pay is moving. So every brief starts from shared understanding and up-to-date market intelligence. For Chief Actuary, Appointed Actuary and other senior actuarial leadership roles, our expertise extends into executive search. At that level, leadership and influence across the business matter as much as technical background.

The strongest actuarial hires add value beyond their job description, so we look at the whole picture. Technical capability is the foundation, from pricing, reserving and valuation to financial reporting, capital and model development. Alongside it, we look for three qualities that earn trust:

  • Judgement: knowing when a result needs challenging before it reaches the board.
  • Communication: explaining assumptions and their impact clearly to finance, underwriting and leadership colleagues.
  • Integrity: standing behind their sign-off with transparency in regulated work.

Every candidate is screened by a consultant who knows theactuarial market. That screening looks beyond job titles and exam counts to the work they have delivered.

We recruit across actuarial functions in Singapore, from first analyst roles to Chief Actuary:

  • General Insurance: pricing, reserving and capital actuaries across personal, commercial and specialty lines.
  • Health: actuaries focused on medical and health protection products, from experience studies to group benefits.
  • Investment: actuaries covering asset-liability management and investment strategy for insurance balance sheets.
  • Life Insurance: valuation, reporting, capital and experience analysis specialists for life and savings portfolios.
  • Pensions: retirement and benefits actuaries supporting multinational corporations and consulting clients.
  • Reinsurance: life and non-life reinsurance actuaries working on treaty pricing, structured solutions and regional portfolios.
  • Product Development: actuaries who take new products from concept to launch, balancing customer need with pricing and capital.
  • Valuation & Pricing: specialists who keep assumptions and results robust through each reporting and pricing cycle.

In-house: You may be building actuarial capability at an insurer, a reinsurer or within a multinational corporation’s benefits function. If so, our conversations cover team shape and qualification mix as much as individual skills. We can help you weigh where a qualified hire adds most and where a part-qualified actuary with strong exam progress fits. We can also help you sequence hires around reporting and product timelines.

Consultancies and audit firms: If you’re an actuarial consultancy or audit firm, we keep the focus on client readiness and breadth. Consulting candidates need to move comfortably between client environments, and some roles call for experience across several markets in the region. We work to your engagement timelines and the commercial structure behind them.

We offer permanent, contract and executive search hiring. For contract roles, we talk through duration, extension options and the reporting or project cycle the engagement supports, so the timing works for your team.

We support organisations across Singapore’s insurance and wider financial landscape:

  • Insurtech: digital and insurtech units within global insurers, where pricing and product teams work closely with data and technology colleagues.
  • Reinsurance & Broking: reinsurance and broking teams within global insurance groups, where actuarial insight supports treaty pricing, placement and client advice.
  • FMCG & Consumer Goods: multinational corporations with pensions and employee benefits programmes that call for actuarial oversight.
  • Professional Services: actuarial consulting and audit firms advising clients on valuation, reporting and capital.

A specialist actuarial recruiter brings market knowledge to every stage of hiring, from the first conversation about your brief to the offer. Before anyone reaches your interview stage, our consultants explore what candidates have priced, valued, signed off or built. They also look at how candidates have explained results to the people relying on them.

We share current insight on salary expectations, qualification stages and how comparable profiles are moving in Singapore, so you can plan with confidence. Our wider network spans 900,000+ candidates. Our long-standing relationships within Singapore’s actuarial community reach professionals who are open to the right move but not actively applying.

Actuarial market intelligence

Every actuarial brief in Singapore starts from where your organisation is in its reporting and capital journey. RBC 2 and IFRS 17 sit at the centre of life and general insurance roles, and as RBC 2 continues to be fine-tuned, capital teams are adapting alongside it. Where group reporting sits overseas, reinsurance and regional roles may also call for experience of other reporting bases, such as US GAAP or Solvency II. Our consultants talk this through with you first, so the shortlist reflects the frameworks your team works with now and the changes ahead.

We then look at qualification stage alongside the qualifying body. Fellowship matters for senior and sign-off roles, while exam progress helps set expectations at associate level. Where modelling depth or reporting automation is part of the role, we explore that too.

Before anyone reaches your interview stage, our consultants look at how candidates have applied these frameworks in practice: whether they led an implementation or ran it as business as usual, which models they owned, and how they handled a change in assumptions under scrutiny.

Actuarial pay in Singapore steps up clearly with qualification and responsibility. Each step widens with seniority, and the largest comes at Chief Actuary level, where the role carries sign-off and strategic accountability. Ranges also overlap at the senior end, so an experienced senior manager and a newly appointed associate director can sit close together on base salary. As a guide, typical annual base salaries are:

  • Entry-level Analyst: S$50,000 to S$72,000
  • Actuarial Associate: S$72,000 to S$102,000
  • Manager / qualified: S$102,000 to S$144,000
  • Senior Manager: S$144,000 to S$186,000
  • Associate Director: S$174,000 to S$252,000
  • Director: S$252,000 to S$360,000
  • Chief Actuary: S$360,000 to S$600,000+

These figures reflect base salary only, with bonus and benefits on top. Contract engagements are priced separately, so they don’t compare directly with an annual salary. For tailored benchmarking by line of business, seniority and qualification stage, visit our benchmarking page.

AI is giving actuarial teams new tools and giving their governance experience new weight. As insurers bring AI into pricing, underwriting support and reporting, someone has to judge whether an output can be relied on. That question sits naturally with professionals who are used to defending assumptions and results.

Supervisory expectations are moving the same way. New guidelines on AI risk management will apply to insurers and reinsurers from October 2027. They set clear accountability for boards and senior management, with stronger safeguards where AI affects customer outcomes or financial risk. Actuaries who have helped shape model governance can support that work from inside the business.

When you’re interviewing, it’s worth asking how candidates have tested or challenged an AI-assisted result and how they explained its limits to colleagues. Their answers can show as much as a list of tools.

Some actuarial searches reach beyond Singapore. Candidates who need an Employment Pass are assessed under COMPASS, a points-based framework. It looks at salary, qualifications, workforce diversity and support for local employment, with bonus points for shortage occupations and strategic economic priorities. The criteria are reviewed regularly, with the latest updates applying from January 2026, so it helps to build work pass planning into your timeline from the start.

Our Singapore consultants also work alongside Gravitas’ insurance teams in the UK and Hong Kong. That lets a search draw on networks in other major insurance markets while staying grounded in Singapore’s. We can talk you through how relocation expectations differ by seniority and help you plan the right mix of local and international candidates.
